One of Congressman Moran's outstanding characteristics is his fearlessness in speaking truth to power. It ranks right up with his keen intellectual insight and his understanding of the concerns of all Virginians.
In January 2011, Congressman Moran told Arab network Alhurra after Obama’s State of the Union Address that “a lot of people in this country … don’t want to be governed by an African-American.”. Democrats essentially lost the majority in the U.S. House for “the same reason the Civil War happened in the United States…the Southern states, particularly the slaveholding states, didn’t want to see a president who was opposed to slavery.”
But how do we explain Tim Scott and Allen West?

A choice, not an echo
Virginia Democrats have the chance to select a true progressive candidate to serve Virginia in the US Senate. Jim Moran will bring the same selfless, honest, intelligent, caring voice to all Virginians that he currently provides for his constituents in the Eighth District. Let's draft Jim Moran to run for Senate!
